Benefit Plans

Medical

TWC medical options include Two National PPO plans and a National HDHP plan with HSA.

Our comprehensive plans included coverage for office visits, hospitalization, lab and x-rays, prescriptions, preventative care, urgent and emergency care, chiropractic care, and mental health.

Alternative care treatments, such as acupuncture, homeopathic care, Lasik surgery, and massage therapy are offered at a discount through our provider’s special discount program. Coverage is available for your spouse, dependent children, or domestic partner.

Prescription

National Prescription Drug Plan program is available for all of our plans. It allows you to enjoy benefits like mail order service up to a 90 day supply of medicine, including regular delivery at no additional cost.

Dental

TWC's Dental Plan covers preventive, basic, and major services for employees and their eligible dependents.

The Dental Plan encourages employees and their families to use in network dentists to maximize plan benefits and lower costs.

Vision

TWC provides vision coverage for routine eye exams, frames and lenses, and contacts.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

The EAP is a free, confidential counseling and referral service that can help employees and their families deal with life’s challenges. It offers counseling services, work-life resources and referral services. These services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Short Term Disability (STD)

The Weather Channel’s STD program offers income replacement in the event of an illness or injury.

Long Term Disability (LTD)

LTD coverage provides a partial replacement of lost wages when the employee has missed work due to a long term illness or injury. Supplemental LTD coverage is also available for purchase at a minimal cost to the employee.

Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D)

The AD&D plan offers a variety of living and death benefits payable to employees and their family members, as the result of loss of limb, speech, hearing, or loss of life due to a covered accident. The Weather Channel provides basic AD&D insurance. Additionally, employees may purchase supplemental AD&D coverage for themselves and their eligible family members.

Business Travel Accident Insurance

Beyond any life insurance, the Company provides employees with Business Travel Accident Insurance coverage if they experience injury or loss of life while traveling on company business.

Adoption Assistance Program

The Weather Channel provides financial assistance to employees adopting a child. Employees eligible for this program may receive reimbursement to help pay for qualified expenses related to the adoption of a child.

Employees are also given two weeks of paid time off to travel to pick up the adopted child and/or to bond with the child.

Time Off

The Weather Channel recognizes that time away from work is essential to the health, welfare, and productivity of our employees; therefore we have developed a very generous time off from work program.

Holidays - The Weather Channel observes eight (8) company holidays: New Year’s Day, Dr. Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the Friday following Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.

Volunteer Time - All full-time employees have up to (8) hours of paid volunteer time per calendar year for community activities during a regular workday.

Paid Time Off (PTO) - Eligible employees will accrue paid time off.

Savings

TWCC 401 (k) Savings Plan

401(K) - TWC’s 401(k) Plan allows eligible employees to save for their future by contributing on a pre-tax or post-tax (Roth) basis and receive a company match on a portion of the savings. Employees can contribute up to 50% of pay before taxes are withheld, subject to IRS limits.

Flex Spending Accounts

Health Care Reimbursement Account allows contributions to pay for qualifying out of pocket healthcare expenses.

Employees may elect to contribute pre-tax dollars up to limits per IRS guidelines to either a health care and/or dependent care reimbursement account. These accounts allow you to set aside pre-tax dollars to reimburse yourself for eligible expenses. Reimbursements made for your account are not taxed. These accounts are considered “use it or lose it” meaning that whatever money remains in the account after the cutoff date is not recoverable.

Dependent Care Reimbursement Account allows annual contributions of up to limits per IRS guidelines to pay for qualifying depended care expenses.

529 College Savings Plan

The Weather Channel understands that saving for higher education can be a daunting task. We offer employees a flexible; tax advantaged 529 college savings program.

A 529 Plan can be used to save for any student’s qualified higher education expenses. The student can be a child, grandchild, family member, non-relative, or even yourself.

Other Programs

Tuition Reimbursement

TWC recognizes the mutual benefit of assisting employees in obtaining higher education. As a result, TWC offers a tuition assistance benefit for business-related courses towards job-related degrees.

Prepaid Legal

Pre-paid Legal Services offer a complete array of legal assistance.

Lactation Program

The Weather Channel provides the Lactation program as a benefit to employees to promote the health of mothers and babies.

Transportation Reimbursement

This program gives you the opportunity to have qualified transportation expenses deducted from your paycheck on a pre-tax basis within limits mandated by the IRS.

Pet Insurance

The Weather Channel understands that pets are considered valued family members. Employees can protect their pets by enrolling in pet insurance.

Employee Discounts

TWC offers employees discounts for various goods and services including cell phone plans, car rentals, hotel accommodations, and discounted theme park tickets.
