Weather Group is taking bold steps to shake things up, both internally and across the media industry.   As the leader in weather information and delivering award-winning AR/VR experiences; our emerging Local Now digital media brand is innovating how audiences get their national and local news.  Local Now delivers locally relevant, nationally compelling video news to communities across the country.  The Senior Technical Product Manager is a brand-new role created to lead the strategy and delivery of the monetization side Local Now’s expanding business model.

Position Summary

The Digital Senior Product Manager will lead cross-functional efforts to design new innovative monetization opportunities for the business while refining the technical and process delivery of our current industry-leading digital products. This role will work especially close with the Ad and Promo Director to brainstorm new product ideas, assist with strategic packaging and digital product positioning and to answer any ad product related questions.

In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to dream-up and experiment with new monetization models. You will also rethink and challenge existing models and mold them to be even more value creating. You will have to have both vision and the technical chops to deliver on that vision. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and drive the full ad product lifecycle from digital product strategy (e.g. ideation, business cases), to product development (e.g. requirements gathering), to product maintenance (e.g. performance analysis).
  • Lead the evaluation and refinement of the existing linear television ad technology stack and design the desired future-state ad tech stack.
  • Lead the evaluation and refinement of the existing ad operations / delivery process from Proposal to Invoice and design the desired future-state processes to reduce cost while improving overall delivery performance.
  • Identify and engage best-in-class technology partners to help build and deploy new advertising product solutions including advanced localization ad products.
  • Collaborate very closely with Ad Sales to define and help build out the technology needed to support ad sales strategy and goals attainment.
  • Craft rigorous business cases to demonstrate the imperative for proposed new investments and product advances

Education, Experience, Certification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technology discipline, data science or related field
  • MBA or advanced quantitative/technical degree preferred but not required
  • 5+ years of product management experience at a start-up, media, or ad tech firm

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • A solid technical understanding of advertising technologies including SSPs/DSPs, Ad Mediation, RTB, and Ad Targeting
  • A solid technical understanding of video products including HTML5 Video, HLS, MPEG-DASH, etc
  • Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills, ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and develop business cases
  • Experience in cross-functional roles and a proven track record of delivering successful ad or other monetization products to market

Hours
