Position Summary

The Post Production Editor is responsible for innovative concept development, editing, and production of multiplatform projects for The Weather Channel Companies, including promotions, presentations, short-form, long-form, featurettes, broadcast and digital requests and other projects as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Consult with clients to successfully deliver content to all platforms via variety of specs/codecs and/or tape
  • Import/export images, audio and video sequences to/from other workstations via Ethernet, digital router, or other available technologies
  • Ingest and prepare tape and file based assets for edit
  • Propose new processes/workflows to improve efficiency and develop product requirements
  • Proactively troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues with platform deliveries that might impact the department
  • Deliver tapes and files as requested or scheduled
  • Media manage, archive projects, and organize projects
  • Archive footage with organization at the end of each project
  • Mentor Associate Post Production Editors where applicable

Education, Experience, Certification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in television or communications
  • 5 years of non-linear editing experience in a commercial post-production or broadcast environment

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work as a self-starter with minimum supervision
  • Ability to work with multiple format machines, test equipment, computers, linear and non-linear edit equipment
  • Adobe CC and Final Cut Studio experience, specifically Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, and Speedgrade
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Experience with compression and file formats
  • Keen ability to create and tell a story through editing techniques
  • Knowledge of advanced color grading, 2D/3D tracking, Rotoscoping, Keying, Special FX, video and audio
  • Knowledge of VTR’s, routing system, monitor calibration, scopes, digital platform processes, and available technologies is preferred
  • Strong consultative and customer service skills to interface with clients during the lifespan of a project
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Strong knowledge of typography/ design/composition
  • Strong understanding of video standards/formats (i.e. codecs, frame rates, resolution)
  • Strong working knowledge of Broadcast and Digital production operations and live studio environment

Hours
