Position Summary

The Social Media Specialist will support the Social Media Manager in order to grow social media presence for The Weather Channel television network and its sub-brands (AMHQ, The Weather Channel Originals, etc) across all social media platforms.  They will seek innovative ways to leverage The Weather Channel’s TV brands and meteorologists to increase engagement with fans and support various company initiatives.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support Social Media Manager with day-to-day responsibilities to maintain and grow The Weather Channel social media efforts
  • Analyze and interpret data from multiple sources to strengthen social media communications
  • Maintain TWC brand standards across all products and marketing efforts
  • Partner with programming and production teams to create a content calendar to be posted to social media platforms
  • Manage creative assets to be used across social channels
  • Create, promote and maintain social presence for current and upcoming corporate initiatives, including promotion of new shows, company branding efforts, severe weather coverage and more

Education, Experience, Certification Requirements

  • College graduate, Bachelor's degree in Marketing or Communications preferred.
  • Fundamental understanding of effective creative
  • Fluent in social media opportunities and best practices
  • 2 years experience in social media and/or marketing related role

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proactive, results driven.
  • Exceptional customer facing social writing and communication skills
  • Effective time management skills, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Understanding of brand standards and social media marketing best practices
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Highly collaborative; ability to work well on a team across various business functions
  • A strong work ethic and highly motivated
  • Ability to work in a breaking news and deadline driven environment
  • Familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite is a plus
  • Ability to work extended hours when needed particularly during severe weather events

Hours
The Weather Channel operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  Hours worked by The Weather Channel associates will vary according to job responsibility and scheduling demands of each department.
